One of the most common objections I hear when it comes to starting a podcast is, “Will I have enough to talk about?” or “How will I know what to talk about?” If you’ve found yourself asking these questions, fear not! Today, we’re diving deep into ways you can consistently generate fresh and engaging podcast content ideas.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty, it’s essential to clarify your podcast’s goal.
Are you trying to gain more clients, build authority in your niche, foster relationships, or grow your email list?
Identifying your primary objective will guide your content creation, ensuring that every episode aligns with your goals and provides value to your audience.
Today, we’ll be doing a thorough brain dump of podcast ideas, and next week, we’ll talk about how to plug these topics into a content calendar. So, let’s get started!
If you’ve been active on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or TikTok, Threads, etc. you’re sitting on a gold mine of content. Go through your past posts and identify the ones that sparked engagement or interest. Even brief posts can be expanded into full episodes.
Got an archive of blog posts? Perfect! Each blog post can become a podcast episode. Read them aloud to check if they flow naturally when spoken, and adjust the content as needed to fit a conversational tone. Don’t just read your blog post verbatim—inject your personality into it!
Think about the questions you get asked the most by clients, people in your DMs, or even within your community. Each frequently asked question can form the basis of an episode. And remember, if one person is asking, chances are many others have the same question.
Look into what people are curious about in your niche. Use tools like Google, Pinterest, or even social media platforms to find common questions and search queries. These can provide you with a steady stream of relevant topics.
While somewhat controversial, AI tools like Chat GPT can help generate ideas and structure your thoughts. Use it as a brainstorming partner, but ensure you modify the output to match your voice and verify the accuracy of the content.
Ask your business friends, clients, or even members of Facebook groups about the challenges they face or topics they find interesting. Sometimes the best ideas come from casual conversations.
As you gather these ideas, jot them down in a notes app, Google Doc, or journal. Keep this list handy so you can refer to it whenever you need inspiration.
Next week, we’ll focus on organizing this amazing list of ideas into a workable content calendar. Stay tuned to learn how to map out your episodes, making sure you’re always a step ahead in your content planning process.
Remember, creating a podcast doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By keeping your audience’s questions and interests in mind, you’ll always have something valuable to share.
