The short answer: Yes, you can – and it might be a lot more helpful than you think!

My Journey with Chat GPT

Initially, I was a bit skeptical about using ChatGPT to help create podcast content, or for anything of that matter. My early experiences with Chat GPT resulted in generic and uninspiring material. It felt disconnected and quite honestly it wasn’t capturing my voice. For the longest time, I considered it a last-resort tool, something to use only when absolutely necessary.

The Turning Point

A few months ago, I decided to give ChatGPT another shot. I found that the key to making the most of it is feeding it the right information and working within the same thread each time. After doing this, my experience changed!! Let’s break down the steps that worked for me, so you can easily integrate ChatGPT into your content creation process.

Steps to Make Chat GPT Work for You

1. Prep the Feed

  • Consistency is Key: Always use the same thread for your interactions with ChatGPT. This helps it learn more about your style and preferences.
  • Detailed Intro: When you first start a thread (or even update one you have been using), introduce yourself, the type of work you do, who your audience is, and all about your podcast in as much detail as possible.
  • Engage with It: Ask ChatGPT to generate content and then critique what it produces. Highlight what works and what doesn’t. This process trains it to better mimic your voice.

2. Tweak the Output

  • Refinement: The content you are given by ChatGPT serves as a framework. Always go in and make adjustments so it aligns with your natural cadence and vocabulary.
  • Voice Authenticity: Make sure the final content sounds like you. Don’t hesitate to make numerous edits. Remember you want this to be YOUR content, and coming from AI it won’t be unless you change what it gives you.

3. Ask for Specific Help

  • Episode Ideas: Ask ChatGPT to brainstorm topics. Provide as much information as possible about the kind of episodes you are planning. The more specific, the better the results.

My views on ChatGPT have evolved. I do think it can be an amazing support to content creation, but with one caveat: never rely entirely on it. Use it to spark ideas, create outlines, or draft scripts, but always infuse your unique voice and perspective into the final product.
