For years, I poured my heart into teaching. I loved working with students, seeing those lightbulb moments, and making a difference in their lives. But over time, the joy I once felt was replaced with exhaustion. The long hours, the endless paperwork, the ever-growing demands – it all became too much. I was a burnt-out teacher, overwhelmed, and questioning whether I could keep going.
If you’re a teacher feeling the same way, I want you to know you’re not alone. And more importantly, there’s another path.
Teaching wasn’t just a job; it was my identity. But as the stress piled up, I realized something: I was giving so much of myself to my work that I had nothing left for my own life. My family barely saw me outside of grading papers and lesson planning. I felt guilty taking time for myself. I kept telling myself I just needed to push through, that maybe next year would be different.
But one day, I had a moment of clarity. I asked myself: Is this the life I want five years from now? The answer was no. That realization terrified me, but it also opened the door to something new.
I started exploring what else was out there. I stumbled upon the world of online business and quickly realized that people were making a living doing work they loved – on their own terms. The more I learned, the more I saw how my skills as a teacher – organization, communication, problem-solving – were highly valuable outside the classroom.
At first, I dabbled in different things, trying to figure out what I was passionate about. Eventually, I found podcast management, and something clicked. Helping entrepreneurs launch and manage their podcasts allowed me to combine my love of teaching, storytelling, and organization into one business. And best of all? I was in control of my time, my energy, and my income.
Starting over wasn’t easy. I had doubts. I worried about income stability, about whether I could really build something sustainable. But I reminded myself of this: staying in a situation that was draining me wasn’t an option either.
I took small steps – learning, networking, offering services, and building my confidence. And before I knew it, I had a business that not only supported my family but also gave me the freedom I’d always wanted.
If you’re feeling burnt out and wondering if there’s something else out there for you, here’s what I want you to know:
Leaving teaching was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but it was also one of the best. Now, I get to work with amazing clients, set my own schedule, and have the flexibility I always dreamed of.
If you’re feeling stuck, I want you to know that change is possible.
You have options.
And you deserve a life that doesn’t leave you burnt out.
Are you a teacher thinking about making a change?

Like most teachers, I went into the profession thinking I would change the world....or at least love what I do. And the truth is, I did...for a while. But after 7 years I knew I was not in the right field for me, and continued to spend the next 11 years trying to find something else.
