Today, we’re getting into the philosophy that drives everything I teach: Podcast First Marketing. If you’re tired of juggling platforms and feeling like your podcast is just another box to check, it’s time to flip the script. Your podcast can be your main marketing engine! The foundation of how you connect, nurture, and sell.
Let me show you how to stop treating your podcast like a side project and start using it to replace the endless pressure of posting on every other platform.
When I started out in podcast production, I watched so many women pour hours into social media. They posted daily, tried every trend, and still barely moved the needle. Meanwhile, their podcasts sat in the background, underutilized.
The burnout was real. I’ve seen clients go all in on social media only to quit entirely when it got to be too much. That content disappears in a flash. A podcast episode? It speaks for you long after it’s released.
Social media lacks the depth of connection. It demands visuals, trends, engagement, and a lot of effort for a tiny window of visibility. A podcast builds trust and relationship over time and that’s what leads to sales.
Your podcast becomes the top of your marketing funnel. Everything else (social posts, email, Pinterest) points people to your episodes. The podcast is where the relationship begins, where people choose to spend time with you, and where trust is built.
Podcast episodes don’t disappear after 24 hours. With the right keywords, episode titles, and SEO (or PSO: Podcast Search Optimization), your episodes can reach new listeners long after you hit publish. Pair each episode with a blog post, and you open the door to even more organic traffic through Google and Pinterest.
Guest interviews are valuable, but your solo episodes position you as the expert. They show your voice, your framework, and your offer. The more strategic solo content you create, the easier it is to become the go-to person in your niche.
Don’t let episodes end in a dead end. Every one should lead somewhere – a freebie, a product, another episode, or a service. These micro-calls-to-action move passive listeners into active clients over time.
Even if you hate the word “funnel,” you have one. A podcast lets you build a natural funnel: people listen, get to know you, and move toward working with you. This growth may be slower, but it’s authentic, sustainable, and far more effective than chasing the next viral moment.
Each episode should support your business goals. You don’t have to be selling every week, but each topic should align with your offers, message, or audience journey. When you plan with intention, your content works for you.
Here’s how I keep my podcast aligned with my business:
Throughout every episode, I naturally mention how I help, what I offer, and how listeners can take the next step without pushing a hard sale.

After working behind the scenes on podcast launches and weekly production, I started noticing a pattern: amazing women were showing up week after week, creating valuable episodes… but still not getting leads, sales, or any real growth from their podcast.
Turns out, they didn’t need to work harder. They just needed a strategy.
Now I help coaches and service providers tweak their existing podcast so it finally works for their business. Bringing in aligned listeners, building trust, and guiding people straight into their offers.
If your podcast is feeling like more effort than it’s worth, don’t quit!! Let’s fix the strategy!!
