What if you never had to worry about what to say on your podcast each week? By building a quarterly podcast content plan using a monthly mini funnel strategy, you can map out your episodes in advance and ensure each one leads your listeners toward working with you.
This method not only eliminates content stress but also gives you a podcast that strategically markets your offers – without needing to sell every single episode. Here’s how to create a quarterly podcast content plan that works for you.
Start with a Quarterly View
Planning three months at a time helps you:
- Avoid repeating content too soon
- Stay consistent and aligned with your offers
- Plan once and record with ease
You can brainstorm series ideas even six months ahead, but commit to planning and outlining one quarter at a time. This gives you the flexibility to shift things around as needed.
Identify Monthly Themes
Each month in your quarter will have a theme. That theme becomes a four-episode series (or five if there’s an extra week), and all episodes within that series point toward your offer.
To pick themes:
- Look at your calendar: Are you launching something? Opening up client spots? Releasing a new program?
- Align content with your offer: If your signature offer opens in April, build content in March that nurtures and pre-sells your audience.
- Plan around client needs: What do they need to believe, understand, or overcome to say yes to your offer?
Even if you’re fully booked, it’s smart to direct listeners to a waitlist. A waitlist builds credibility, captures leads, and makes it easy to follow up when a spot opens.
Build Monthly Mini Funnels with 4 (or 5) Episodes
Each monthly theme becomes a four-part funnel that moves listeners from awareness to action. The DRA method – Discover, Relate, Act – guides your content.
Episode 1: Discover Introduce a belief shift. Show your audience that there’s a new way to think about their struggle or goal. This isn’t about pitching…this is about creating curiosity. End with a teaser for episode two and a subtle call to action like a freebie or DM invitation.
Episode 2: Relate This is where they start to see themselves in your story. You relate to their objections, struggles, or questions. You’re building emotional connection and trust. Mention your offers casually and always preview what’s coming next.
Episode 3: Act Show what’s possible. Talk about the results your clients get or how your process works. Give them enough insight to think, “I need that.” This is where many listeners start reaching out or joining your email list.
Episode 4: Invite Now it’s time to tell them how they can work with you. Don’t do a hard pitch – teach something valuable and then transition naturally into inviting them to your program or service.
Optional Episode 5: Bonus Some months have five weeks. Use this as a bonus to:
- Cover a topic you’ve been wanting to share
- Highlight a guest who complements your offer
- Add another relate-style episode to deepen trust
Why This Works
This strategy simplifies everything:
- You only need to plan four times a year
- You record content that flows and builds momentum
- Every episode has a purpose
Most importantly, your podcast becomes a marketing tool. No more scrambling or wondering what to say. No more content that doesn’t connect to your offers. You’re creating episodes that naturally lead to the invitation.
